Question:
Can one have one’s CV and ID document copies back from the recruiting entity to which one submitted the copies when applying for a job, if one eventually decides not to take the job or if one fails to get it?

Answer:
A recruiting company has the right to keep as company files whatever personal data it has received from job applicants, and the job applicants who have voluntarily submitted their data may not claim it back under normal circumstances. However, job applicants have the right to information, right of access and right to object, among other rights. If they come to know that the company has improperly handled their personal data, they may report the incident to this Office.
