Title: Driving recorders with video recording functions installed in cars

Content:

    Citizens A said, based on the purposes of safety and assisting investigations of traffic accidents, some people installed on their cars the driving recorders, which are built with a video recording functions. Citizen A asked whether installing this kind of devices conformed to the Personal Data Protection Act (Law 8/2005).

Result:

    As Citizen A failed to provide detailed and specific information about the case, the GPDP could only provide the following opinions based on general personal data processing:
  Article 3.2 of the Personal Data Protection Act provides that this Law does not apply to the processing of personal data carried out by a natural person in the course of a purely personal or household activity, and saving those with the purposes of systematic communication and dissemination.
